At a height of approximately 440 feet (134 meters), the
Lighthouse of Alexandria was one of the largest of the Seven Wonders of the World. The lighthouse is also significant historically as it was one of the first
navigational beacons in the history of seafaring: surviving for almost 1,000 years before it was destroyed in an earthquake. The Lighthouse of Alexandria
fountain pen in the "The Seven Wonders of the World" Edition series is Pelikan's tribute to this unique architectural monument. The Lighthouse of
Alexandria fountain pen is Pelikan's tribute to a technical and artistic masterpiece that is unique in its scale and significance. Each detail was designed
and crafted with devotion: the lighthouse motif artistically engraved on the front of the fountain pen, and the dark blue varnished shaft, edged in gold
plate. The cap with its four stylized lighthouse windows and the gold plated clip are intricately worked. Anyone who places emphasis on exceptional writing
functionality and durability will appreciate the unique hand-crafted gold nib which is decorated with an individually embossed, stylized lighthouse. This
beautiful and distinctive writing instrument rests under a glass dome modeled on the historic appearance of the lighthouse. The Edition number, which is
engraved on the filling handle, identifies each pen as a unique collectors' item. Pelikan has crafted just 440 of these precious writing implements to
commemorate the enormous scale of the tower, which stood at 440 feet or about 134 meters and is still the tallest lighthouse of all time.
