In the year 1849, due to a series of accidental discoveries of
gold, California became the destination of an epic exodus. Hundreds and then thousands of American colonists set off to the West on a "Gold Rush"
migration that lasted for at least six years. In order to celebrate this historical event that forged the American spirit of optimism and tenacity,
Montegrappa has created the 1849 E-W Limited Edition. The body and cap are engraved with symbols and images of the legendary journey. A technique of
low-relief engraving on precious metal was utilized to produce a true sculpted work of art. Only 490 fountain pens and rollers in Sterling Silver, and 49
fountain pens and 18 rollers in Yellow Gold available worldwide.
The Montegrappa Cosmopolitan 1849 E-W Limited Edition fountain pen features an
18kt gold nib, available in fine, medium and broad, and fills via built-in piston.
