Invoking the ancient cultural traditions of Imperial China, already almost immeasurably old when Marco Polo made his groundbreaking, and door-opening journey to Zhongguo, or "Middle Kingdom", as the Chinese themselves refer to their land, Cartier’s China Inspiration Limited Edition Collection is in fact an ensemble of personal luxury items, including fountain pen, desk clock, and lighter. Fittingly, both barrel and cap proper are black lacquer. Yellow gold detailing in classical Chinese motifs adorn all three pieces. Coral engraving highlights the cap top of the fountain pen, of which only 888 individually numbered pieces have been crafted for worldwide purchase.
